Can I go to Guam for the upcoming marathon?

My business has been not so good so I just tried to apply for a new job after new year's holidays. I didn't recieve for a while so I thought they didn't accept me and I forgot about that.

But, unexpectedly they contacted me later. I didn't have any idea what's going on, but I started the new full-time job from January 27th. I work at a NTT group company. They need extra manpower in order to deal with the busy season (FIY: Japan FY starts from April).

I felt like I got on the wrong ship.

The job contract is until March 31st, that's why I applied for.

You know, I am going to United Airlines Guam Marathon 2020. I am going to leave Japan for about a week. I've already booked the flight and hotel last October. No cancellation, no refund.

As far as I know, the Marathon won't be cancelled.

United Airlines Guam Marathon – Run in Paradise

For runners who are going to participate

Following the U.S. Federal Government's decision to implement restrictions and quarantine on immigration to the United States as a countermeasure against the new coronavirus, the government of Guam followed, and foreigners who have stayed in China on January 31 have responded. Has announced that it will implement restrictions and quarantine on Guam.

The United Airlines Guam Marathon Secretariat is working on collecting the latest information, consulting with related organizations, and considering specific countermeasures. As of February 25, United Airlines Guam Marathon 2020 will be held on Sunday, April 5 as scheduled.

In addition, we have been asked about restrictions on entry into Guam following reports of restrictions on entry into the Federated States of Micronesia, but as mentioned above, there are currently no restrictions on entry by the new coronavirus except for those who have traveled to China.

However, They asked for the job contract renewal until the end of May.

Oh dear...

f:id:wanichan:20200301115531p:plain

I need to go to Guam. Already scheduled, you know?

Then I got an email from the person in charge of the temp agency.

Subject: About April vacation

The dispatched company said, "We are fully aware of the situation, but please make sure if it is possible to shorten the period."

You cannot do that, do you?

Natually I answerd,

Unfortunately, I can't shorten the period. I applied because I thought the contract was until the end of March in the first place.

I don't know if the job contract will be renewed.

Starbucks Sakura 2020 has come to Japan

On February 20th, I got Spring Season Blend 2020 first, and I enjoyed the sakura chiffon cake with coffee (if my memory was correct, it was spring season blend).

f:id:wanichan:20200301000503p:plain

f:id:wanichan:20200301090331p:plain

I think the chiffon cake is the same as last year, but I don't know the difference of spring season blend between 2019 and 2020. The same as well??

Starbucks also offers the donut, but the chiffon cake is much better for me.

The next day I tried was the following Frappuccino with chocolate sauce - the first version of sakura 2020 until February 25.

Sakura milk pudding Frappuccino

It is characterized by the use of milk pudding with a slight sakura flavor using cherry leaf extract

I LOVE this sakura chiffon cake! I enjoyed it and sakura milk latte with chocolate sauce.

Sakura milk ratte
An easy-tasting latte expressing the sakura flower that soars

Milk is combined with a sauce that mixes sakura flower powder and strawberry juice to create a reassuring and gentle taste. Two color hail and topping of dry cranberry which imaged cherry blossom petals accentuate the taste. Sakura's seasonal latte where you can feel the early spring.

Over 10 miles outdoor running again

Last time I did run 6 laps around Nagai Park at January 11th.

It's been 1 month so it's time to do it again.

f:id:wanichan:20200211210719p:plain

What a beatiful sunny day! As you can see, there is no cloud. Moreover, it gets warm and direct sunlight. It's hot!

f:id:wanichan:20200211220248p:plain

I actually ran 4 laps the day before yesterday. At a pace of passing 10km within one hour. But then the running speed slowed down.

That's why I decided to run a little slowly, and decided to run 6 laps anyway.

f:id:wanichan:20200211211106p:plain

1 hour 45 minutes 52 seconds, although it always took more than 2 hours.

Well, do I have to think more about pacing?

At this pace, it would be impossible to run a half marathon.

And it's almost anaerobic exercise. Please look at this.

Training for the upcoming United Airline Guam Marathon

I did apply for United Airline Guam Marathon 2020 at the end of last April,

then I've already arranged for the flight and hotel.

I've been struggling with the runner's knee.

When I noticed, it was less than three months before the marathon.

Saturday, January 11, 4:33 pm

Running 6 laps (over 10 miles) is not easy. I think it should be moderate. Otherwise, I would suffer from runner's knee again.

The first 6 laps run this year was yesterday.

f:id:wanichan:20200112222729p:plainf:id:wanichan:20200112222751p:plainf:id:wanichan:20200112222832p:plain

Then I just did run only one lap today.

The first outdoor run this year was on the 3rd - 2 laps

f:id:wanichan:20200112223214p:plainf:id:wanichan:20200112223304p:plain

2 laps again on the next day

f:id:wanichan:20200112223348p:plainf:id:wanichan:20200112223404p:plain

4 laps on the 9th

f:id:wanichan:20200112223543p:plain

As long as I can run 6 laps, I am ready for the half marathon - that's what my friend who is a full marathon runner says.

Good news from my website user who have passed the MOS exam

I got the following email during new year's holiday.

www.wanichan.com

I am sorry to say that this is an old article, but I used this Outlook 2010 article (https://www.wanichan.com/pc/outlook/2010/) completely and successfully passed MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) with nearly perfect marks.
I am very grateful that there was a problem that was only described on this site.
Thank you very much.
I will continue to use your website.

Actually, I have not taken the MOS test at all. I'm just creating the exam preparation contents. Don't you think it's nice if someone informed you like "I passed the exam" because of your website?

Actually this is not the first time. More than 3 times?

Last time was 3 years ago - Excel 2013?

docs.microsoft.com

I applied to take the SPECIALIST exam right after summer vacation started last week and studied on this site for a week. I took it today as a trial exam, and I passed! It was just barely, though...
I am very happy to have a good start for summer vacation. I'm really thankful to you.
I still have over 50 days left on my Microsoft Office trial, so I will be studying other Office applications on this site.

I changed the running method and ran Nagai Park after a long time.

On the night of October 20, I had severe pain in my right knee while running through Nagai Park. I somehow finished running 4 laps.

Runner’s Knee is an overuse injury caused by doing too much, too soon. It’s a sign that your body wasn’t ready for that much running.

Let me check the activity. Filtering "Running"

I started running 6 laps since September 15.

f:id:wanichan:20191110111429p:plain

11 Runs last month.

f:id:wanichan:20191110110939p:plain f:id:wanichan:20191110111001p:plain

Even though I want to keep running, my right knee says "No". I couldn't run 2 laps last time. I quit running at the 5km point. After stop running, my weight started to increase.

I didn't want to gain my weight again, so I decided to start running after a long time.

f:id:wanichan:20191109224317p:plain

f:id:wanichan:20191109224741p:plain
There are 3 different running methods: forefoot, midfoot and heel strike.

f:id:wanichan:20191110113128p:plain

My right knee began to ache in the second half of the first lap, so I started trying forefoot running, with keeping my right leg straight to avoid knee pain. But the running method was gradually changed to midfoot.

As a result, I could finish running 4 laps.

f:id:wanichan:20191109230003p:plain f:id:wanichan:20191109230019p:plain

Actually I put on the following knee belt while running.

f:id:wanichan:20191110115314p:plain

Didn't it help avoiding runner's knee?
