I have been wondering which one was better for me, Apple Watch or Fitbit.
Then I decided to get Apple Watch Series 4.
I went to Apple Shinsaibashi, with my iPhone 7 and MacBook just in case this afternoon.

After I paid my new Apple Watch by a credit card, the Apple staff took me upstairs to set it up.
If you don't have iPhone, you might have only one option like Fitbit, but I have iPhone 7 and MacBook as well. According to Apple official website, you can unlock your MacBook with Apple Watch.
But, I need to update to the latest Mac version. I still use Sierra, but it doesn't work with Apple Watch Series 4. Time to upgrade MacOS to Mojave??
