I just bought a laptop not too long ago,
but I ended up buying a pink iPhone 16 at the same electronics store.
Until then, I'd been researching where to buy the iPhone 16—whether to buy it at the Apple Store, upgrade my plan at a carrier shop, or buy a SIM-free iPhone at an electronics store.
- Buying at the Apple Store means no point discount system. If paying by credit card, only lump-sum payments are accepted.
- Upgrading at a mobile carrier shop is more expensive than the Apple Store because it includes carrier support.
- Buying at a mass retailer inside a shopping mall earns both the mall's points and the retailer's points, which can be used for discounts. Credit card installment payments are also an option.
I found out that if I trade in my current iPhone 13 mini, the buyback service at a mass retailer offers a higher price than the Apple Store.
Actually, it's still unopened. I'll gradually switch over sometime, probably within this month.
I know how to migrate from my old iPhone to the new one, but I find the backup and reconfiguration a bit of a hassle. It's a shame that the Quick Start feature alone can't fully transfer all the data.
