New Year's Holiday 2023

I usually have New Year's Eve soba at my parents' house at the end of the year and stay there, but this year I welcomed the New Year at home because my morning jogging friends invited me to go watch the first sunrise together.

Sunrise time in Osaka was 7:05 a.m., but because the area is surrounded by mountains to the east, sunrise from the mountain edge was around 7:13 a.m.

Fortunately, there was no wind and the temperature was not so low and mild.

Once home, I went to sweat it out and then went to my parents' house after 9:00. I had not yet finished breakfast and my parents were right before breakfast, so we ate Ozoni (Japanese New Year Mochi Soup), etc. together.

Then our family of six gathered together and ate Osechi (Japanese New Year's Day food) for lunch.

After I went jogging from home the next morning, I went back to my parents' house. My dad wasn't fine so my mom and I went to Sumiyoshitaisha shrine this year.

There were no stalls again this year, but more people visited the shrine than last year.

My mother and I then drew fortunes. She drew "medium luck" but I drew "bad luck".

Those who draw this omikuji should have the spirit to break through the status quo.
Interpersonal luck: Don't rely only on others.
Money fortune: "Money comes and goes."
Physical condition: If you keep sinking, you will get sick.
All affairs: "Good fortune comes to those who smile."
Key to fortune: Smile.

I will try to keep smiling this year.
