I got an email from the Japan office that the upcoming marathon has been canceled.
Subject: United Airlines Guam Marathon 2020 has been cancelled
The United Airlines Guam Marathon 2020, originally scheduled for Sunday, April 5, 2020, has been postponed to Sunday, September 13, 2020 due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, and efforts have been made to hold the event.
However, in light of the still unresolved situation, and in view of the fact that our priority is to ensure the safety of the runners, the management and staff who support the event, and the local community, we have unfortunately decided to cancel the event.Following the announcement of the postponement of the event, we apologize to those who have been looking forward to participating in the event, as we cannot meet your expectations.
Entries for the United Airlines Guam Marathon 2020 will be transferred to the next race in 2021.
In addition, "United Airlines Guam Marathon Virtual Run" will be held for all runners who had planned to participate in the event.
We will provide you with details by early August!
The next race in 2021 is on April 11?
Actually, my right hip joint hurts because of overtraining syndrome or something? Now I cannot walk very well.
What is a virtual run?
The distance of your choice for the race discipline you applied for from Saturday, September 5 to Sunday, September 13. You can run whenever and wherever you want, and upload the results to My Page. Rankings will not be determined. Participants will receive a UGM2020 t-shirt, a beach mat, and a medal for finishing the race.
Maybe I can try the virtual run. I did run 8 laps of Nagai Park before. It's longer than a half marathon distance.
I have to cancel the flight and hotel resavation. Luckly no cancellation fees.
But, how about ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization)? Mine is valid until April 30, 2021. Is that still okay?
At this point, should I aim to run my first half marathon within two hours?
