Changing my Mac from Pink 12'' MacBook to Pink 24'' iMac

My current Pink 12" MacBook no longer allows macOS update. Up to macOS Ventura.

MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, 2017)

I received an email a few months ago that said, "Would you like to upgrade to a new MacBook Air?"

Unless there is pink on the MacBook, I can't buy it. Anyway, "pink" is very important to me.

But come to think of it, I haven't had a chance to carry a MacBook around with me since then. And I haven't turned on my 22-inch LCD TV that I bought from Amazon in 2011 for more than a year now.

The content on TV these days is so crappy that it makes me feel bad when I watch it. Therefore, I have come to prefer to enjoy movies on the big screen exclusively on Amazon Prime Video or Hulu.

Currently, I am watching them on my iPad Air, but the screen is still too small.

Then why not just get a desktop iMac?

And the iMac color variations include pink. Color is still important. If it is your favorite color, it will definitely make you feel better!

So Pink iMac it is! I will get this after New Year's holidays.

iMac (24-inch, 2023)
  • Apple M3 chip with 8‑core CPU with 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores, 8‑core GPU, and 16‑core Neural Engine
  • 256GB SSD storage
  • 16GB unified memory
  • Two Thunderbolt / USB-4 ports
  • Magic Mouse
  • Magic Keyboard

The problem is how to dispose of the old 22" LCD TV. We can no longer throw it away as bulky trash. In Japan, there is a recycling law, and it costs money to dispose of it.

I pre-ordered this Pink Apple Watch Series 9!

My first Apple Watch was Series 4, bought at the Apple Store on my birthday eve 5 years ago.

I swiched to the Series 6 two years later.

When the Apple Watch Series 8 came out, there was no pink in the body color, and instead it was replaced by an unfamiliar "starlight" color. Pink is a must for me, and I don't need such a half-baked color.

I have been using the Apple Watch Series 6 for almost 3 years now. It's time to switch to a new Apple Watch. At that time, I heard a rumor that a pink Apple Watch would be released.

When I saw the following picture, I was absolutely convinced that the pink Apple Watch on the left was the one for me.

I opened the Apple Store app on iPhone after I got home from work. But the problem is the watchband. I was confused for a while as to which material to choose. So I called the online Apple Store.
In conclusion, they advised me to choose the one that I liked intuitively because I would inevitably get bored with the band, and in the end, the only answer I got was the pink sport band.

How cute!!

I can't wait!

Sadly, the price has gone up due to the weak yen.😢

I switched to iPhone 13 mini at Apple's first sale

I should have made an appointment to visit the Apple Store in advance, but for some reason an error prevented me from doing so, so I took a chance and went to the Apple Store after getting my Starbucks Lucky Bag.

Actually, I received a campaign mail from my carrier offering to switch to a new iPhone with a 10,000 yen discount coupon, but if you get a new iPhone at any carrier shop, it's at least more than 20,000 yen more expensive than at the Apple store.

The first 30,000 buyers who order a new iPhone SE, iPhone 12, or iPhone 13 during the offer will receive a special edition AirTag engraved with a rabbit, plus an 8,000 yen gift card.

I choose the iPhone 13 mini in pink. The 128GB of storage is enough for me because I'm an Apple One subscriber with iCloud 50GB. This iPhone 13 mini is eligible for a gift card.

Save an additional 8,800 yen when you change your iPhone at the Apple Store with a carrier model. (92,800-8,800=84,000)

They also offer trade-ins and everything can be done in-store.

When I got there, it's like a zoo! They told me that they were fully booked and would be able to accommodate me at a later date, but I told them that I had already decided which iPhone to buy and I would pay it with my credit card, and they managed to get me an appointment at 3:00 PM.

The carrier model charge person had a special tablet to refer to my cell phone contract details.

I was able to change the model at the Apple Store with the data sharing plan with the iPad and the price plan and other options intact.

Then I got this cute rabbit design of AirTag.

Happy New Year!
For customers who purchase
a qualifying iPhone
will receive a special AirTag.

Limited edition design
featuring the Year of the Rabbit.
May it be a year that brings you
lots of good luck.

Shamefully, not a few of those who bought an iPhone at an Apple Store and got a rabbit-designed AirTag immediately resold the AirTag on Mercari or eBay, etc. It is very outrageous that there are so many people who get AirTag for free and then resell it for a high price.

I gratefully received this AirTag and use it for my house key.

I traded in my iPhone 12 mini for 32,000 yen at the store and they discounted the price from the price of the new iPhone, so the final price was 52,000 yen.

iPhone 13 mini 128GB pink
Carrier Model
¥ 71,220
Special Offer (¥ 12,780)
Apple Gift Card ¥ 8,000
AirTag - Limited Design ¥ 4,780
iPhone Trade-In (¥ 32,000)
Total ¥ 52,000

I can't figure out why the actual carrier model iPhone 13 mini 128GB is listed at 71,220 yen when it should be 84,000 yen.

Anyway, I applied that 8,000 yen gift card to AppleCare for iPhone 13 mini and paid the difference with a credit card.

But 3,300 yen will be added to this month's cell phone bill as a model change fee.

Reference Type on Excel for iPhone

I have been writing about Microsoft Office for many years, and currently I am working on updating the articles on my website.

If you want to change the reference type of a cell in an Excel formula creation, you can use the F4 key in Windows or Mac.

However, the mobile device versions of Excel, such as iPhone and iPad, do not have function keys in the first place, so you must tap the desired reference cell and select "Reference Type" from the pop-up menu.

Then, the reference type cannot be selected. This is because it is hidden by the soft keyboard.

When the formula bar was placed at the top of the spreadsheet, all reference types were listed.

The formula bar must be expanded in advance to display the list of reference types.

Then you can barely scroll through the list of reference types to select one.

Why was the specification changed that way? I don't think most people would notice it, and wouldn't it be easier to understand if you could select from a list instead of scrolling down to select?

A message from someone from the past

I recently received the following message via contact form.

Hi,

My name is Max from GeeksMix, my SEO agency.
Is it possible to place an article on your website wanichan.net with a link to one of my clients?
How much will that cost?
Also, if you have more sites, please let me know.

Thanks,
Max

I googled GeeksMix, but it doesn't seem some spam or anything.

www.geeksmix.com

But, I still do not get what he wants, Is this sort of link exchange or something? If so, that is already an outdated strategy. Maybe he seems to have come from more than 20 years ago. What a fantastic time traveler!

Wait a minute... Perhaps he means that he wants to publish an article on my website to promote his client's business? sort of ads page?

I'm sorry, but I don't accept that kind of thing. wanichan.net, is run to disseminate technical information about Microsoft products and services, as well as site management, etc., and not other content.

I don't think its domain age is that long, I took it in April 2013 when I felt like it.

By the way, the oldest one is wanichan.com, ever since November 2002.

In any case, I cannot accept such an offer on my web sites.

If you want to promote something, please use Google ads. Thank you.

I gave my mom an iPad for Mother's Day

I bought Surface 2 for my mom long time ago, but it doesn't work anymore, so I ordered the following iPad on Apple online store for Mother's Day on April 5.

10.2-inch iPad Wi-Fi 64GB - Silver

After a while, I received a notification text message yesterday that my ordered iPad has shipped from the Apple Delivery Support Center in Tokyo.

Thank Goodness! Just in time for Mother's Day!

But I already have an iPad Air 4. In case of ordering my mother's iPad with my Apple ID, after shipping, the message "Get ready for a new iPad" showed up on my iPad's settings screen.

She did not have an Apple ID. Therefore, after the iPad arrived, I did the initial setup on her behalf.

According to Apple Support, the "Get ready for a new iPad" message disappears when the iPad is initially set up with a different Apple ID. However, that message did not disappear.

I had no choice but to sign out on my iPad and sign back in. Only then did the message disappear.

The Japanese edition is below

Microsoft Office apps on iPad disappearing text in the status bar at the top of the screen?

The iPhone is fine, but in the iPad versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, the text in the status bar at the top of the iPad device screen turns white, making it virtually invisible.

PowerPoint for iPad (Ver. 2.60)

OneNote for iPad (Ver. 16.60)

Outlook and OneDrive are blue at the top of the screen, so I can see the white text.

OneDrive for iPad

Does that mean I won't be able to see the white text on the system unless my iPad is in dark mode?

So I switched to dark mode from the iPad settings.

No problem.

Does that mean the text on the status bar is white regardless of light or dark mode? I have tried restarting the iPad, deleting the app once and reinstalling it, but that did not solve the problem.

I hope Microsoft recognizes this issue.
